For this drawing I decided I would go completely off road and rural. I took off in a northerly direction from Rocha and came to large rolling valleys and outcropping rock to the caves of Salamanca. When I saw the valley with a little river in it, I knew I'd found the place. On the land was a farmhouse and I first made friends with the farmer and his wife who had no problem with me riding on their land. I started at the top of a rocky hill and had the most amazing view for miles. It was fantastic just to see where I could ride to and come back to the starting point to see where I’d just been. The ride down the rocks was fun and I had to jump the bike quite a bit to get it over certain rocks. On the flat it went like a dream, well a very bumpy dream as the terrain was covered in tufts of hard grass. On the other side was quite a large river and I had to search to find a crossing point but riding through the water was a lot of fun, even though some cows got a bit scared. When I’d finished, I joined the farmer and his family for a very traditional outdoor bbq including some fish out of the river.

The starting point is right at one of the most beautiful beaches in Uruguay. Imagine me smiling under my helmet.

These guys are everywhere at Cabo Polonio. They are really friendly and not shy at all. The only thing is - they stink.

This is the actual Peninsula with the lighthouse at the tip. There are lots of funny little holiday cottages and hippies.

I’m using a old iron piece on the beach as a landmark to plan my next move.

Riding through the waves was great fun. I might have pissed off some seals but I could not resist.

After I finished the drawing a paraglider came by to say hello. I guess he didn’t expect a bike on the beach.
